1837 Texas Map

This map represents the Republic of Texas in 1837, approximately one year after it won its battle for independence from Mexico. At that time, Texas was basically a "whole other country" as the advertisements promoting tourism in Texas proclaim today. Texas became the 28^th state of the United States in December of 1845.

The original of this beautifully preserved map resides in the Texas General Land Office.
